Dr. Katie Macaluso is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Ithaca College in New York, where she graduated magna cum laude with honors in humanities and sciences. She received her medical degree in 2007 from the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at State University of New York in Buffalo. Dr. Macaluso completed her ophthalmology residency at the Storm Eye Institute at Medical University of South Carolina, where she also was named chief resident.
Dr. Macaluso served as the ophthalmology department representative for the House Staff Peer Review Committee at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Macaluso is a published author, writing about allergic conjunctivitis: epidemiology and clinical features, infectious keratitis and the predictability of refractive error after cataract surgery in myopic and hyperopic Lasik patients.
